Singapore that wealthy and efficiently ran state, has an automatic death penalty for individuals caught with an illicit drug, over a certain weight threshold. At the airport upon entry you will encounter a large plain looking bin, with a sign, essentially stating that if you have illicit material on you, to dump it into this bin. If you do, you will be allowed to enter Singapore no further questions asked. If you happen to get caught inside the airport, well, you will have a better chance of 99% to get hanged in the Changi prison. The CBC in Canada did a report on it one year in the early 2000’s. Up to that year there had been 264 death sentences pronounced by the court for illicit drugs, there were 264 appeals, with only one (1) successful. Lately there have not been many takers. Time for the Netherlands to follow this stirling example of how to do things right.
